Mission

Provide educational facilities for girls living in underprivileged areas such as remote villages, urban slums and areas impacted by natural disasters.
To provide assistance to communities in distress / difficulty who are facing hardships due to natural disasters.
To provide clean water to the people who do not have access to the drinking water especially those living in remote areas or areas impacted by drought.
Assistance will be provided without any judgement of nationality, race and religious belief and sexual preference.

ABOUT US

Shahnaz & Bashir Malik Educational Trust, a Not-profit organization was established in 2017 by initial donation of Rs 7 million by Bashir Malik who migrated to Australia in 1979. Bashir Malik and his late wife Shahnaz Malik wanted to share their blessings with underprivileged communities in Pakistan.

In addition to personal funding Bashir Malik has registered a charity ‘WAVE’ in Australia. All donations over $5 made to WAVE in Australia are tax deductible. SBM is implementing partner of WAVE.

SBM Educational Trust is although new and small but have achieved lot in short time.

  • Two high schools rebuild in AJK. WAVE schools are on front cover of text books approved by AJK government.
  • Over 140 community water pumps have been installed
  • Wheel chairs have been distributed to Special Education centers in Mardan, Islamabad and Sohawa. Also, wheel chairs have been donated to many individuals in Sindh, KPK, Gilgit and Punjab.

 SBM Educational Trust   is working closely with other NGOs and Renowned Social Workers. We just have taken the first steps and still we have to go a long way.

FAQs

Here are some frequently asked questions.

Q: Why donate wheelchairs?

A: It is estimated that at least 100 million children, teens and adults worldwide need a wheelchair but cannot afford one. Some international organizations believe that the number could be as high as 6% of the population of developing countries. There are 30 million disabled people in Pakistan, according to WHO.

A manual wheelchair approximate cost ranges from Pak Rupees 10,000 to 14,000. This do not include transport costs which varies from area to area, Tricycles costs are higher.

Q: Why rebuilding Government schools?

 

A: Due to 2005 earthquake, more than 7,000 schools and other educational institutes fully destroyed in Pakistan. Approximately 65% of public sector education and 80% of TVET institutions had been badly damaged in 5 effected districts of AJK. A lot of reconstruction work had been done. Across AJK 40% of the schools are still without buildings and classes are held under open skies. Due to harsh weather and lack of roof over students’ classes are not held resulting loss of many study hours. Students can’t realise their maximum potential.

Our contributions to date are build school building are

  • Girls High School Mushtimba Azad Kashmir accommodating 300 female students
  • Higher Secondary School Kassian Halal Azad Kashmir accommodating 320 students

Q: Why Clean water projec?

A: Pakistan is on its way to become a water deficient country as it stands at 36th position among the most water deficient countries of the world. Safe drinking water is one of Pakistan’s most crucial problems that demand the earliest/immediate actions to be taken for its resolution

We have installed over 140 Community water Pumps for more than 23,173 individuals’ living in the different remote areas of interior Sindh and Punjab provinces in Pakistan. These communities were fetching drinking water from long distance. Mostly women were carring water on their heads.
